A generic Gainsbourg promo card issued by Philips Records , France. The back of these were updated every few years to list his latest releases (I’ve had earlier versions). This, signed card, lists the LP Serge made with Brigitte Bardotin 1968 (Bonnie & Clyde) as well as 3 earlier releases. The front, is from a photo by Nicloas Treatt, was used on the cover of Confidentiel LP released in 1964.
Serge has signed on the front in blue fountain pen – which leaked at the end of his autograph. The handwriting and position of the signature on the card closely matches another card in my own collection. I hasten to add the autograph is not identical – not auto-pen or stamped. Jane has signed on the reverse , adding “a Ricard” Jane Birkin. Given this is a period item and the nature of the signatures. The assumption is that this was signed around the time Je Ta’aime was released in 1969. Regardless of when the signatures originate, Serge’s autograph has continued to rise in value and this has the added bonus of Jane Birkin’s signature -having both autographs together is genuinely rare. A the time of posting this is the only set of both autographs being offered for sale online.
Condition EX : No significant creasing, no rips… slightly handling. Approx 10x15cm
