Previously published in 1941 as short story in Detective Fiction Weekly and in 1944 in the collection After Dinner Story (6 short stories, which also featured Rear Window- the foundation for the Alfred Hitchcock movie) : this is the first stand alone book. #11 in the Dell 10 cent series . Dell Publishing Company, Inc. New York, 1951. However, this book is equally collected for classic pulp cover by Bill Fleming.
In 1958 the titles was translated into French and published by Mystere series.
