Description
This was part of the Lion and the Unicorn In the Oak Forests of Faun series of shows and amongst the last with Steve Peregrine Took , before switch to T.Rex.
The programme is similar in design and layout to the one for the Royal Festival Hall show ( next door to the QEH) in June 1968. That programme featured David Bowie, and I’m pretty sure he also performed at this show but isn’t listed on the programme. Bowie, who was post Lindsay Kemp and pre Space Oddity, on Bolan’s suggestion, performed a ten minute mime protesting China’s invasion of Tibet, which wasn’t well received. He is however listed on similar programme to this for the Fairfield Halls show on 16th February.
The Programme also features 4 pages of Bolan’s lyrics, an IT advert featuring John & Yoko’s bottoms from the Two Virgins LP, Apple is Your Friend listing for the White Album and various Apcor releases.
Needless to say this is a true piece of ephemera – only being available for one day, at one venue.
