Description
Available to those attending the 1966 Hamilton exhibition at the Robert Fraser Gallery in London.
Supposedly a detail from a found postcard of Whitley Bay, which was enlarged until the grain from the original printing became part of the image. A new print was made of the enlarged image, and was then hand tinted and printed using a photo graphic process. The idea came when Hamilton visited Pollock’s Toy Theatre Museum (then situated at 44 Monmouth Street, London) which sold toy theatre prints “Penny plain- tuppence coloured”.
Allegedly an edition of 100 was printed and used as invitations with the remainder available at the gallery. These came directly from someone who attended the show and picked them up as he left .
