Houdini - His Life Story by Harold Kellock- 1928 biography

£70.00 £40.00

Early biography based on ‘the Recollections and Documents’ of Harry Houdini’s wife -Beatrice (1876-1943).

Bess’ is possibly best-known for the seance’s she held after Houdini’s  passing  on Halloween, 1926. Harry was famously obsessed  with exposing psychics and mediums as frauds – something he loved to argue about with Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Harry set up a secret code with which he would contact  Bess from the afterlife, but it seems he was right about seances being hocus-pocus and after a decade of trying Bess  declared “ten years is long enough to wait for any man.” The seance duty was passed to Walter Gibson, and the tradition continues to this day- but still no word from H.Houdini.

Condition : Good +  see photos – foxing on some pages ….but it was Published by Heinemann, 1928
