Scarce Coil tour mech CD : Featuring John Balance and Thighpaulsandra (who also worked with Julian Cope)
This is one long 50 minute continuous piece.
Part one of “a continually mutating series of circulating musickal compositions”.
Sold at Coil’s live performance at the Royal Festival Hall at Julian Cope’s Cornucopea festival on April Fool’s Day/ 2nd April 2000. The performance featured Peter Christopherson, John Balance, Thighpaulsandra and Simon Norris (Cyclobe) with a guest appearance by dancer Michael Clarke. THe piece was entitled “The Industrial Use Of Semen Will Revolutionise The Human Race” – music was created by Thighpaulsandra and John Balance, and Thighpaulsandra’s mother, opera singer Dorothy Lewis, recites the lyrics especially written by John Balance for “her and for mothers everywhere”.
While Discogs states this was a limited edition of 2000 copies in a grey clamshell case, with an additional 1500 copies packaged in a pink clamshell case sold via World Serpent (after the show) this isn’t correct because Sleaazy handed me both these copies personally after the show : hence the dedication ” To Paul thanks for a terrific job!” (I was the show designer).
