Syd Barrett : Madcap Laughs 1990 UK UFO box set (Vinyl Experience)

£75.00

1990 Limited Edition of 2000.

46-page   29.5cm  x 29.5cm  11½” x 11½” softback book of  Mick Rock’s 1969 photo sessions at Wetherby Mansions, Earls’ Court.

The UFO box sets were produced by Vinyl Experience, a well established collector’s shop,  tucked behind the Virgin Megastore off London’s Oxford street. UFO were  well ahead of record companies at the time – in terms of repackaging. Many record  companies hadn’t caught on the idea of box sets or additional material,  they’d only just woken up to remastering and reselling their back catalogues digitally.

However there was one small problem, while UFO could license extra content from a photographer or artist, in this case  Mick Rock’s photos (or Martin Sharp’s artwork for Creams’ Disraeli Gears) they could get the music rights. So,  instead they purchased CD stocks from wherever was cheapest.  You had the option to buy the box set with/without a CD. In the case of this set they were Canadian copies for an addition £9.00
