Maya Deren : 1961 Bleecker St Cinema double sided flier

£550.00 £475.00

An original double sided flier for screenings of 6 of Deren’s films on 20th & 27th February 1961 & reused for 6th & 13th March at the Living Theatre (where this came from). The glue residue on the bottom right hand corner was where the revised dates were pasted on top….these have long since fallen off.

Almost needless to say Deren’s 1943 Meshes of the Afternoon is undoubtedly one of the classic experimental films of the 20th century… and this  rare flier is for a screening within her lifetime – she sadly passed exactly 7 months after the last date on the flier : 13th October 1961. Her husband Teiji Ito is also credited on the flier & his name is ringed in red pencil. The only other copy I have seen of this flier also had the red pencil annotation (& glue smudge). It was offered for sale & presumed sold for $650.00

A different example of the same flier : also with Teiji Ito’s credit also circled in red pencil, also with glue residue

Condition : Near Fine : Glue residue as mentioned. No creases, rips or fading.

To order: please click the enquiry button or email info@pleasuresofpasttimes.com and state your location and preferred payment method* I will respond within less than 24hours with a bespoke postage and packing quote (at near cost as possible).

*My preferred payment method is via online banking and I send a request based on your location. This is known as ACH in the USA (and is free to use – unlike a wire). This means I can offer P&P at cost. It’s cheaper for you and cheaper for me 🙂
