Scarce UK quad poster for the original release of this celluloid adaption of John Steinbeck’s seminal novel published in 1952.
This poster -approximately 40″ x30 ” ( 762mm x 1020mm) – was sent out folded to Cinema owner’s for display outside their theatre. They were never for sale to the public and were technically property of the film company, who often collected and then burned them. However some thankfully survived ….
This poster has been professionally laid flat to minimise the original fold . It has then been backed on to archival Japanese tissue by professional paper conservationists.
There are no rips or tears beyond very minor nicks in the edge. The hinges (where it was originally folded) are all fine, with no wear.
It has never been displayed and therefore there is no fading, especially in the reds : the first colour to go.
The only minor detractions, is a fault in the original printing, where ink has been allowed to rub over yellow areas.
Overall a VG++ poster that displays extremely well.
As can , or more to the point, can’t, be seen from this detail -the original fold running vertically through this image.
