The Beatles 1969 Christmas Flexi - various options

£525.00

The 7th & final Beatles’ Christmas flexi disc issued in Christmas 1969 to British fan club members.

While the 1963 -1967 flexi discs were all accompanied by  fan club newsletters ( ’63 was printed inside the cover) – the final two didn’t have them. Some, but not all,  copies of ’68 included a Superpix series B order form….

The ‘correct’ inserts for ’69 has  puzzled collectors for years. Record Collector maintained  that there were 2 inserts….While the extremely scarce order form for Alan Aldridge’s “The Beatles An Illustrated Record” was known – the 2nd insert was a mystery until a copy sold on eBay (for £560+) containing an otherwise unseen 2 page letter from Fan club secretary Freda Kelly. The letter apologised to fans who received their flexi in January and gave an additional updates  on each Beatle including John & Yoko’s War is Over campaign.

IMO the Aldridge inserts ran out long before copies were mailed out in early January ’70 containing the 2 page letter. However Discogs  has recently stated that there was a 3rd insert  -the  Superpix series ‘C’  order form.  Superpix  set ‘C’ form was part of the summer ’69 fan club package mailed-out in June ’69  along with  the 3rd exclusive fan-club poster.  While it’s possible that left over order forms could have been included with some copies  of the 69′ flexi – (the letter refers to sets being left in stock), I’ve never come across one included in my 40+ years of collecting experience.

Whereas the ink rubbed off the printed labels on  the ’68 flexis – by ’69 Lyntone had worked out a more permanent formula…

Offered here are a selection of  flexis with / without  the letter plus one where I’ve added an Aldridge flyer to copy contain the letter.
