Description
This must be quite a unique haul : A 1952 Art Calendar Co Superior Gift Line salesmen’s pack
Before I list the complete contents, this package contains the famous MM Goldens Dreams image 3 times, 1x tin top bound calendar sample , 1x as single 8″x10″ 20cm x25cm sample and finally as a small b&w images on the ordering page…which only really counts for serious collectors…which this entire package is for !
1 • 34cm x45cm Superior Gift Line orange card envelope: Loss at top & slit open at bottom : Good/ Fair. Amazing that’s it survived at all.
2 • 40x 84cm single sheet : 1952 folded sample calendar of a dog & grouse. Creases and edge stain VG-
3 • A tin top binder with 10x sample calendars : These range in size from 21cm x40cm to 40x 84cm
The top b&W page details the series # and different lines. At the bottom are ‘the nudes’ + the warning, “Remember – Nude subjects are not mailable”. Marilyn is in the bottom right corner -see photos.
Marilyn is #5 : 25cm x 50cm. Obviously, since this is pre-fame it doesn’t carry MM’s name and has the correct “Golden Dreams” & “Made in U.S.A” . In addition, since this is unique to the sample pack is carries the series # 3170.
Many of the samples have an edge stain, luckily the Monroe virtually clean : see photo and reverse.
4• Binder with Paramount Line samples : Opens with 20+ 8″x10″ on right hand side & smaller on left hand side of the wallet. The all important Marilyn images, is included once as a 8×10″ : condition near Fine. There are 4 other nudes, 3 of which + MM were used as a calendar (3 months each) which I’ve had in stock once but long sold….
5• Envelope marked Big Value Direct ons : Contains 3 x card calendar samples as shown.
6• Card envelope with 3x samples of Superior Sportman’s and Home & Household calendars
